Is it possible that this is caused by your not having the user
"sshd" (for privilege separation, which is now on by default but was
not before) on your system?

(Your comments about build.sh just being make dependall install I
can't speak towards; did you get a complaint about the sshd user
not existing when you did that and dealt with it by hand?)
