what's the plan with ld: try to keep -nostdlib, or go to using
explicitly specified linker scripts (w/ the correct lib paths) whenver
-nostdlib is currently needed?

(There's an argument for both ways, i think...)

If it's the former, i've got a rewritten patch to implement -nostdlib
which i can try to get back into binutils.
