I now have an i386 -current system (comprising
kernel/userland/packages/local stuff/XFree86 "-current"/...)
built entirely with gcc-2.95.2 from pkgsrc/lang/gcc.

I'm very satisfied with the results.

Please feel free to examine and update a "tracking" PR I
have filed (port-i386/11148).
