It was announced on tech-toolchain, but I don't know about port-i386.  We
have committed to egcs 1.1.x, and the only option for breakage is to fix
those problems in egcs directly at this point.

We aren't using egcs 1.1.1-release (as it's not yet released); we're using
egcs 1.1.1-prerelease-2.
