...I just realized I have lukemftp from NetBSD/misc/
lukemftp/lukemftp-1.5.tar.gz installed on a bunch of old non-nbsd boxes.
That probably deserves investigating/fixing as well.
The tag in the tarball is:

...and contains the old code.
