What I really meant was that we should not make it default off just
because you don't like it.

I mostly think we should align to upstream recommendations in terms of
what is the normal/recommended way to deal.   If the maintainer thinks
that either upstream thinks it should default off, or that it causes
trouble and it should be default-off for a while, I don't wish to wade
into overriding the maintainer's judgement at all.
