print/foomatic-filters

Hi!

It looks like I have created a mess with my commit yesterday. I upgraded print/foomatic-filters to 4.0.17, missing that this version was already available as print/foomatic-filters4. I could just revert that commit, but I do have a few questions:

Why do we even have both versions?

Why is print/foomatic-ppds from 2007? I highly doubt that any of the printers in there are even still made. Is there any downside to just updating this?

Why does print/foomatic-ppds explicitly depend on a foomatic-filters below version 4?

I would be glad if someone could provide some insight.
