net/bind918 depends on python?

I just noticed this:

pkg_info | grep python
python311-3.11.1    Interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming language

Does anyone know why python was made a requirement when the documentation 
doesn't list it?

Second, even if it did need python, why is python310 specifically 
selected (.include "../../lang/python310/buildlink3.mk")?
