A few hints: Make really sure that you have no stale work directories. "rm -rf */*/work" is not too big a hammer. pkg_admin rebuild, pkg_admin rebuild-tree, pkg_admin audit, all can find and sometimes fix issues. Probably not related, but good to do; think of it like fsck. make show-var VARNAME=foo, after reading the bl3/etc. to see what variables matter. do this in the package that is trouble look in work/.buildlink to see if db4 got buillinked in save the log from the build and look into serf's configure to see if it rejected a db4 that was present
