proposal: remove --binary-macpkg from bootstrap
pkgsrc bootstrap gained a "--binary-macpkg" in 2007. It called
PackageMaker to create a double-clickable Mac .pkg of a binary bootstrap
kit.
I added this feature, but I never used it -- and I've probably been
running pkgsrc on OS X about as long as anyone. If we ever published any
Mac pkgsrc bootstrap kits in .pkg format, I certainly don't remember our
having done so.
Is anyone still relying on being able to generate their own
double-clickable Mac pkgsrc bootstrap kits? If so, can you tell us a bit
about why this capability is important to you?
Barring objections, a week from today I intend to remove
bootstrap/macpkg.pmproj.in and the corresponding "--binary-macpkg" code
from bootstrap/bootstrap.
Thanks,
- Amitai
