choosing a xentools version

I'm in the process of pkgsrc-ing a bunch of collectd plugins, one being xenxpu.
This needs libxen, provided by sysutils/xentools*.
Is there a mechanism for choosing the preferred xen version, along the lines 
of PYTHON_VERSION_DEFAULT et al?
