No, in the end it was because prior to the configure patch, pkgsrc libtool
was always replaced afterwards... that is to say, pkgsrc libtool is fine
with the "unset CP, MV & RM" commands.

I have submitted upstream libtool patches and the patchset to gtexinfo
is fine as indicated yesterday, so I can push it and close the problem report.
