Yes indeed, and I use pkgsrc on MacOS X myself (from source). What I
meant to say, is that it can be very useful to be able to debug or work
on fetch/libfetch outside of the pkgsrc tree.

What I had specifically in mind is the point when beginning to port
pkgsrc to a new platform, before being able to bootstrap or download
anything yet.
