SUPPORT_FILES ?

Hello,
is SUPPORT_FILES still working ?
pkgsrc.txt still mention it, and it's used in databases/mysqlcc,
but I can't get it to work and find no reference to this variable
in pkgsrc/mk/. 
I've used CONF_FILES in remplacement and it does the job, but it doesn't
sound exactly right for icon files ...
