greedy conflicts
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi list,
Some of pkgin users, and me among them, noticed that a couple of packages
conflict with their own branch. For example, if we look at 2012Q1
pkg_summary, we can see:
CONFLICTS=elisp-manual-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=emacs-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=emacs-nox11-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=mule-[0-9]*
PKGNAME=emacs-22.3nb17
or
CONFLICTS=elisp-manual-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=emacs-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=emacs-nox11-[0-9]*
CONFLICTS=mule-[0-9]*
PKGNAME=emacs-nox11-22.3nb17
or again
CONFLICTS={mysql-server-[0-9]*,mysql3-server-[0-9]*}
PKGNAME=mysql-server-5.0.96
pkgin uses CONFLICTS is order to warn the user if he is to make a mistake,
those warnings are not severe, but they really are misleading for the
newcomer.
Is there any strong reason why those packages have greedy CONFLICTS
globs ?
Thanks,
