x11/kdelibs3 on MacOS X

In order to build x11/kdelibs3 on MacOS X (10.6.8) I had to add the following 
line:

CPPFLAGS.Darwin+=       -DBIND_8_COMPAT

Could anyone else with access to MacOS X please let me know whether for their 
version of MacOS this is necessary or not. Thanks.
