There's some control structure that's been made opaque, so uses need
to be converted to accessor functions. povray's patch-af is a
particularly laborious example, but also can be used to mine the names
of accessor functions to use :-)

Occasionally the operational logic needs to be changed, but not
usually.

Anyway, in this case something weird is going on with xpaint and I
need to investigate more closely before anyone worries about it.
