Yes, this is the Opensoalris Image Packaging System, the native pm for Openindiana.
Maybe see pkgsrc/mk/flavor/README. Note that the NetBSD GSoC projects
include a project for porting to other package systems (like RPM or
Debian dpkg).
I didn't knew about the GSoC project. Maybe it is worth investigating.
