At least on 4.0.1/amd64 and pkgsrc-2010Q1, during building devel/p5-Date-Manip, make dumps core, apperantly due to an overlong variable assignment. Using GNU make (USE_TOOS+= gmake) works around, but probably make should be fixed instead. Did anyone notice that one during bulk builds?
