Hmm. Indeed not. I guess -lsocket is no longer a well known issue.

It should be as simple as adding a suitable AC_CHECK_LIB to
configure.in and regenerating configure, I think, but I'm not good
enough with autoconf to fit it into what's already there with any
confidence.
