I've got one going now:

PKG_DBDIR=              /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/prefix/libdata/pkgdb
LOCALBASE=              /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/prefix
VARBASE=                /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/varbase
PKG_SYSCONFBASE=        /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/sysconfdir

PKGSRCDIR=              /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/pkgsrc-current
WRKOBJDIR=              /Volumes/pkgsrc-bulk/wrkobjdir
DISTDIR=                /Volumes/pkgsrc-distfiles
PACKAGES=               /Volumes/pkgsrc-packages/${MACHINE_PLATFORM}

All on case-insensitive filesystems, just for extra fun. I might wind up
being disappointed, but I'm hoping for some spectacular breakage. :-)
