Anyone know if there is an easy way to avoid setting CFLAGS and/or
CPPFLAGS in the MAKE_ENV environment?

I'm trying to track down why I haven't been able to build
thunderbird/firefox/seamonkey for ages on my solaris-2.9/sparc box via
pkgsrc. This mozilla bug report seems to suggest that I might try not
setting CFLAGS in the make environment.

In general I'm wondering if systems that use gnu configure should avoid
doing this since the configure environment should set them how we want.

Thanks
