Looks like it helps i.e. now I can build gtk2-2.8.10 just fine though would be 
great to merge this fix into the main pkgsrc tree - there are tons of 
packages what depend on gtk2.

ps: kde3 meta-package is among them btw :) (due to kdegraphics3).
