I worked to port dss-5.5 without pkgsrc framework, it looks like fine.

Did you find error in QTBroadcaster/ and QTFileInfo/ ?
Check 'LIBS=' in Makefile.POSIX.

I try my work into your pkgsrc frame.
It is able to use 'make install', but '/usr/pkg' is hardcoded.
