It's actually a good question why firefox was not included - esp. as it
was put in the readme. I've rebuilt the CD (for myself right now), and
there's firefox on that right now. BUT. It only starts up, and exits
before opening any windows.

One problem I noticed while installing the firefox binary package was an
error message from the INSTALL script, see
http://www.feyrer.de/Misc/firefox-problem.gif, claiming that it can't run
/usr/pkg/lib/firefox/regchrome - which indeed isn't there.

Maybe that's related?

I'll look into adding links and lynx for the next update, I'd prefer not
to go into xfce and any vim stuff - NetBSD has a fine vi. Sudo is already
added.
