I would also prefer adding the period to make it more clear.

One of my boxes has the following:

-sh-2.05b$ pkg_info | grep linux-k
linux-kernel2.6.11.10-2.6.11.10 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.11.11-2.6.11.11 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.3-2.6.3 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.13.3-2.6.13.3 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.14.4-2.6.14.4 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.9-2.6.9 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel-headers-2.6.10 Linux kernel headers
linux-kernel2.6.7-2.6.7 The Linux kernel
linux-kernel2.6.8.1-2.6.8.1 The Linux kernel

(But not a good example, since all are generated from same pkgsrc
directory -- at different times.)
