If I remember correctly, Solaris 8 is the earliest release pkgsrc really
supports nowadays, though I think I read about someone trying it out with
Solaris 7.

Looking on sunsolve, I found:

  Solaris 7
    sparc 107443-23
    x86 107444-23

  Solaris 8
    sparc 110934-24
    x87 110935-24

  Solaris 9
    sparc 113713-21
    x86 114568-20

If this is correct, then even Solaris 7 seems to be able to handle
longer package names.

I would like gensolpkg handling longer names.
