Thanks for looking into this, Jeremy.  There is a PR against this very
issue, pkg/30656.  You might want to append your comments and discoveries
there.  It will be nice to have it working on Darwin/MacOS X again.  (Maybe
see about the -lresolv/-ldl library issues along the way?)
