With Apple announcing to go Intel for MacOS X I wonder how easily pkgsrc
will be able to handle this. In theory it should be at most a change of
some compiler options at some central configuration file, recompile,
In practise it will be a bit more difficult because I am afraid some
packages might imply MacOS X == PPC and its endianess. Or is this
unlikely to be a problem due to Darwin already existing as an x86

In any case, recent development might help making some people think
again about the value of Open Source and portability (in terms of
protecting their investment!). Changing CPU families? Who cares, just
