There are some patches (from me) that change casts in the source of
AbiWord that gcc complains about[1].  Although all of those were about
eliminating reinterpret_casts.  It seems similar patches are needed
here.

[1] I suppose those casts were written as they were to increase
portability but in practice they did the opposite.
