I don't think so. I have successfully used pkgsrc/bootstrap for non-root
installs (FreeBSD 4.8, Solaris 9 and Debian 2.2) with the pkgsrc tree,
the bootstrap working directory and WRKOBJDIR on an NFS-mounted disk.
I do not know which kind of NFS server it is, maybe some Linux box
since it's on the sourceforge compile farm.
