This is just a quick note to tell you that we are now in a freeze in
pkgsrc, in preparation for the pkgsrc-2004Q3 branch. It's expected
that this freeze will last a maximum of two weeks from today.
This will be the first pkgsrc branch with a full buildlink3
implementation, and, although we've missed our goal of a full pkg
views deployment, I'm not that worried - the plan was written almost a
year ago, and it was always an aggressive goal. In addition, a large
number of packages have already been modified to support package
views, as well as the traditional overwrite packages.
We're going to be concentrating, over the next 14 days, on getting
the number of broken packages down as much as possible - if you'd
like to help out, please take a look at the pkgsrc-bulk mailing list.
Thanks for your understanding.
