Nope, the current working directory is the same for both the working
sessions and the non-working ones, it's /tmp, and contains only:

lychee# ls
ccache-2.3nb1.tgz   popt-1.7nb4.tgz     tcsh-6.12.00nb1.tgz
distcc-2.14.tgz     sudo-1.6.7.5.tgz
lychee#

I suspected that it's something to do with root privileges, but I'm
not sure _what_.
