NetBSD/macppc/1.6.1 .. if only I could figure out where the libXp comes
from.....
Principally.. all I have done is do a "make install" in the Firefox-08nb1
directory

The standard version of X11 that comes along with 1.6.1 for Macppc
output from XFree86:
XFree86 Version 4.3.0.1
Release Date: 15 August 2003
X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.6
Build Operating System: NetBSD/macppc 1.6.1 [ELF] The NetBSD Foundation, Inc.
Build Date: 01 March 2004
