background: base system has no termcap.h, but a termcap.h in
/usr/pkg/include provided by devel/ncurses.

autoconf does a test compile, which fails, but then checks for the
presence of termcap.h in /usr/pkg/include, which succeeds. this
latter test takes priority, so it thinks it can use termcap.h.

this means gtexinfo can't be built on Solaris if ncurses is
installed.

I think I've seen a hack put in a package to "fix" this kind of
thing before, but a real solution would be preferable.

any ideas?

grant.
