Sure, but pkgsrc should not have to support such a mix.  I ran Emacs-21
and Emacs-20 simultaneously all through the alpha-test period.  20.7 was
installed via pkgsrc in /usr/pkg, and 21 was installed manually in
/usr/local.

The undoutably extremely small number of people who will continue to
need access to 20.7 after de-installing its pkg and installing 21.2 as a
pkg are free to manually install 20.7 in /usr/local (or wherever they
like so long as it's not where they installed the 21.2 pkg :-).
