Yours bombs during a build on a sparc just like mine...

Tom Lord claims it is getting more portable, now that people are
using it on Linux in addition to FreeBSD.  But I'm betting he's
not being as careful as he should with endianess...  I'll probably
send him a report, and maybe try to dig into it a bit as well.
