I beleive I fixed the problem in php-gd-4.0.6nb1.  Note that
it's 4.0.6 based, not 4.0.5.  So, please update your pkgsrc
tree and see if it works?  Since lots of things of php
related packages' structures are changed in 4.0.6, you must
recompile them after updating the pkgsrc.
