Thanks for the advice.
I updated the entire pkgsrc using cvs, as you suggested.
When I try to make xpm I get:
#validating dependencies (a long pause)
#cannot fork
#error 1 (repeated many times)
#proc table full: increase kern.maxproc or NPROC
#cannot build dependencies

Please help.  This is really starting to bring me down.
