Right method, right results (up to a point), wrong conclusion.

Al added the _PKG_SILENT and _PKG_DEBUG definitions to the line - they came
in as part of the mods to support Solaris - *your* results show that, prior
to that, mycroft changed the line in 1.190, but cvs annotate tells me that
version 1.1 had the line as

@(cd ${WRKSRC} && CC=${CC} ac_cv_path_CC="${CC}" CFLAGS="${CFLAGS}" \

from 20th August 1997. So the original came from FreeBSD.
