Martin,

| Would have been me.

oops - deleted that email . . .

| Just for the record: contacting the author and making him aware of the
| problem is good. But I also sugested leaving the distrib as it is and
| applying a patch against the configure script to make it work with the
| current distrib. There are lots of precendents...

yeah i know, i wanted to try and have the distfiles changed *first*, if that fell through then the next logcial step would be a patch. It just makes more sense to *me*.

On a side note, when I sent the errors the author knew precisely what was wrong. The variable 'ospeed' is handled by the OS on some systems and on others it is not. At the moment I cannot recall what the case was with NetBSD-1.4.2. The Xlib 'lipc' simply is not needed on NetBSD-1.4.2. The author sent me a new configure and I tested it using my local ftp server - it ran without a hitch. Soo all that remains is how the author wants to distribute it and me putting the final touches on the package.

Finally - credit where it is due - Thank you Martin :)

regards,
        jrf
