I've just commited some changes to bsd.pkg.mk and bsd.prefs.mk to avoid
unnecessary forking/execing, which speeds up things like a "make clean" in
pkgsrc/x11/kde to 20% of the original time, a "make readme" there takes
33% of the original time now.

If you experience any problems with this change, feel free to send-pr!
