Do any of you know if quake data files are machine-dependent, or
machine-independent? at this moment pkgsrc/games/quakedata installs
files into /usr/pkg/share/quake, however, I'm not sure if this
is the right place. if it is machine-dependent, does
	   /usr/libdata/quake sound right?

That is probably the correct spot. The quake files were tailored towards
an i386, to be certain, however the last time I looked there was byte
swapping code in the quake source to deal with this. I don't know if it
works, however.
