Bingo. I've plugged in an old 188.8.131.52 XF86_SVGA server binary, and the Riva
acceleration works like a charm.
I'm going to first build from scratch, from pkgsrc, and try it again that way.
Then I'll try a 3.3.4 binary for kicks. Finally I'll see if I can find a 3.3.5
binary somewhere. (I've built everything locally for a while now - I don't
know if that makes a difference.)
I'll also submit a PR, if it's definitely not just my particular (stock, but
who knows?) 3.3.5.
