Okay, I see what you're saying, got it.

It is _nice_ to have it be a build system, too, but I see no reason one
couldn't use Make as a front end (spent a year doing brain-dead stuff like
_that_, too :-)).

In any case, if what we have works, I guess there's no point in "fixing" it.
I'm woefully unfamiliar with the FreeBSD pkg_* stuff.
