I finally rebooted a new kernel this morning.  It still does that:

64 bytes from icmp_seq=39679 ttl=255 time=0.234 ms
64 bytes from icmp_seq=39680 ttl=255 time=0.142 ms
64 bytes from icmp_seq=39711 ttl=255 time=0.120 ms
64 bytes from icmp_seq=39712 ttl=255 time=0.150 ms

I'll keep using it for a while, but if it gets too bad, I'll go back
to (gasp) rtk..
