It looks like the first ethernet is the VT6102 Rhine II chip,
whereas the second one, which isn't being configured, is the
VT6105 Rhine III chip.

Apparently support for the Rhine III was added to vr(4) in
August of last year. You'll probably have to give -current a
shot, or pull back the -current changes to 1.6.
