Completely useless?  Seems to me that you're arguing it's useless for 
non-i386 ports, but I've got a feeling this argument may have gone right 
over my head. 

In the past 2 weeks I could have used something like this for my i386 
installations.  At least the store didn't charge me a restocking fee.


I'm going to relieve this pain in my neck, I hope, by taking David 
Young's advice and get cards with the Atheros chipset.  The more I read 
about it, the more it really does seem like the way to go.
