I thing johans point was that the work shouldn't be duplicated. So when we
add new processing options, it doesn't need to be added at two places.

For example, the script was posted missed the "#"*|create) case, so for all
ifconfig.<if> script had a create statement, it would have caused an
failure printed to the screen.
