I hate NIH attituide, too.
And (as I once wrote in somewhere) the IRS implemetatino is NIH
for me.

Note that the followings:
- the IRS library was made after nsswitch becomes very common.
- the IRS library lacks some features that nsswitch framework
  already provides.
